- "Connecticut Mountain Lion Likely Came From The Black Hills" -- CT is such a cool state that apparently even the mountain lions are traveling cross-country to live there. Seriously, this is such a cool story from All Things Considered, for both the facts and the ways in which the facts were discovered. Crazy stuff!
- "In 'Muzzled,' Williams Tells His Side Of The Story" -- Unless his side of the story includes admitting that his original statement is inherently discriminatory, I don't care to hear another word from Mr. Williams. I'm only linking to this All Things Considered story because it's one that had me shouting at my radio.
- "Atheism" -- I've appreciated the few stories I've seen in the media lately about Atheism, and this Kojo Nnamdi Show segment address the topic as well. LOVED this opening: "In our society, it's taboo to insult Christians, Jews, Muslims or other believers for their faith, but many feel no such compunction about atheists. And a surprising number say they wouldn't vote for an atheist. Negative attitudes toward atheists may be in part the result of misconceptions about atheism and the various philosophies associated with it, like secular humanism and free thinking. We speak to atheists working to raise their profile and create a better understanding about what they do--and don't--believe."
- "From Kings To The Average Joe: Gout Makes A Comeback" -- Another All Things Considered piece for you, and I gotta say that living like kings doesn't sound so good anymore. Of course, I'm sure you can predict what picture accompanies the story, right??
- "Gang 'Interrupters' Fight Chicago's Cycle Of Violence" -- Wow, talk about powerful programming. This Fresh Air episode is incredible listening, truly. I hadn't heard of the new documentary The Interrupters, but now I'd love to watch it!
- "Carl '60 Cent' Kasell And The Debt Ceiling" -- Oh my. Not much I can say here, but thank you to NPR and to the brave Kasell who is infinitely cool.
- "Rep. Giffords Pays House A Surprise Visit For Debt Vote" -- I first read about Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' return to the House via The Two-Way, NPR's news blog. The video footage and photo are overwhelmingly inspiring.
- "Living Very, Very Narrowly" -- Another of NPR's blog presents the Odd Story of the Week, this one from the Krulwich Wonders blog. Really, it's a strange one that you've just got to click over to see.
Happy NPR listening,
