now posting regularly

Wonderful Wednesday to you all. With our mini-vacation last week, my radio and computer time was a bit more limited than usual, resulting in a small patch of NPR goodies for you this week. Don't fear, though, for two of the four are controversial enough issues to fill in the empty space!

  • "Ina May Gaskin: "Birth Matters: A Midwife's Manifesta"" -- I admit that I haven't yet listened to this segment, but I'm somewhat familiar with Ina May Gaskin and I'm intimately familiar with midwifery care and natural childbirth (three times around), so I have a vested interest in this Diane Rehm Show piece.
  • 'Circumcision: Age-Old Rite Faces Modern Concerns"-- Of course, following up a piece on childbirth it's perfect to talk about circumcision, right? This All Things Considered story is incredibly interesting about a small, (but perhaps growing?), trend among Jewish parents opting not to circumcise. Changes up the discussion a bit.
  • "3-D And Headaches: Why 'Avatar' Made Me Sick" -- When this piece from the NPR health blog Shots came up in the Facebook feed, I clicked on it immediately thinking of my dear husband who cannot stand to watch anything in 3-D. There's an actual medical issue at play for why the viewing of 3-D can bring on headaches. (Personally, I hope this trend goes away again like it did the first time!)

Wishing you many NPR "driveway moments" to come,
