However, I don't have my little radio bookmark, so I thought my weekly NPR post would be absent for a week or two, but then I remembered about their Facebook feed. Double yippee!! So, the links that I want to share this time around all came from that feed, and I'm happy to get my NPR fill, regardless of its form.
- "William-Henry Ireland's Great Shakespearean Hoax"-- June means Shakespeare for my online book club (seriously folks, I'm trying to participate this year!), so I found this story to be timely. I probably couldn't get through the whole book that the story is highlighting-- my own issues with nonfiction-- but the All Things Considered story is just the right size!
- "Controversial Pesticide Worries Scientists"-- This Weekend Edition story shouldn't shock me as much as it did. Honestly, what in our lives is NOT trying to kill us?
- "Did Michelangelo Draw A Brain in God's Neck?"--Another story about hidden things in classical art- love it. This All Things Considered story is just wonderful, and if you read it online, you even get to see the image in question.
- "Finding A Drug's Real Expiration Date"-- Yay for this Morning Edition story!! I'm a rule follower, so I have been known to throw away several bottles of OTC medicine when I finally notice the expiration date has already passed, but I'm happy to read that I might not necessarily have to go that route next time.
- "The Writer Who Couldn't Read"-- Holy cow is all I can say after reading this Morning Edition piece. This sounds like a bibliophile's worst nightmare, making this story all the more amazing.
- "Why Dawn Is The Bird Cleaner Of Choice In Oil Spills"-- Having grown up with more than enough "Can you take grease out of my way? Ha ha ha!" teasing, I've always been aware of Dawn detergent's advertising campaigns. (My first name is Dawn, if you didn't know, hence "morninglight" mama!) This story, though, is not an NPR-sponsored commercial-- it even drops a little-known fact about Dawn detergent's make-up. Interesting stuff.
Happy to still be connected with NPR, even while away from home,
