now posting regularly

I wish there were more hours in the day. I could find a gazillion things to fill that extra gifted time, and I would hope to put blogging high up on that list. I selfishly wish that I could just sit down and write every time the fancy struck me, but alas, life simply doesn't allow for that. I even started a heartfelt and somewhat emotional post the other day, but I had my first ever blogging conundrum wondering if I should actually put up what I was writing. Hmmmm. I'm still mulling that one over.

But in the mean time, an easy regular post is my weekly round-up of the NPR stories that have caught my ear. Try these on for size:

  • A Morning Edition piece the other day stood out to me, especially in light of the end of a certain somebody's boycott of Facebook- "Groups Complain to FTC About Facebook Changes." As a fan of FB personally, I was interested in this story and realized that I needed to go back and check out my own privacy settings.
  • Another one from Morning Edition this week- "PBS Tackles Happiness in 'This Emotional Life'" intrigued me, although I have to admit that I forgot to set the DVR for the actual show. Ugh. I'm pretty sure PBS shows all of its specials a few times, so hopefully I'll be able to catch it at some point. I think it's the perfect time of year, in light of our American obsession with making New Year's Resolutions, to examine the topic of happiness. Has anyone seen the show? Best part of this piece is when they talk about the effects of children on the happiness levels in marriage... oh man.
  • Okay, put this Marketplace Morning Report story in the category of "I didn't know they could do that!" for me- "Laptop flying rules you may not know." Yes, if you've ever flown with a laptop, or plan to do it in the near future, you should read this piece.
  • Fresh Air often provides some fascinating interviews, and this week's segment with Stanley Tucci fit in that category. An amazing actor capable of a variety of characters as different as can be. Good listen.
  • Oh, and I was reminded by an email exchange with a friend of this story that I heard today on Morning Edition (but forgot to press my radio bookmark!), and it makes TWO Facebook references in one day- "Facebook Blocks Web 2.0 Suicide Machine." That's all I'm saying- you just have to click on this one, trust me.

Perhaps I'll be back in regular blogging form sometime soon. I've got a lot rolling around in my little brain, so we'll see how it all gets worked out.

Loving NPR as usual,

  3. Yeah... if only we could find that extra special time. Let me knwo if you do! And the laptops thing? Ohhh I can only imagine the freak out that my company would have on this. Ironically, some of the info we have is completely protected and required to be so by the government that apparently is also demanding to see it. Whee :)
